The Accident Season

        Every October, Cara and her family go through "The Accident Season." They must always wear gloves, disconnect the toaster, and cover table corners with bubble wrap to protect themselves. When Cara notices Elsie, a girl she was friends with before, in every photo she has on her phone, she starts to look for answers. She finds her mousy hair, or her full body, or even her shoe. At a party at an abandon house, Cara finds Elsie and Elsies tells her that she's not sure if she's actually a human or a ghost just looking after Caras family.  After Cara, her ex-stepbrother Sam, and her friend bea, save Caras sister in a fire at the abandoned house, their mother tells about how the accident season started. She tells how her first daughter named Elsie, died when she fell into a river and couldn't save her. Cara tells her mother that Elsie is still alive and is looking after the family. Her mother does not believe her until at the end of the book.
