Pretty Is - Janelle Mixner

This book is a book about a girl named Erin. She is going into the sixth grade. Her older sister named Monica is going into eighth grade. They will be in the same school. Erin thinks Monica is a dork along with all of the other kids in Monica's grade. Erin has a daring friend named Hannah. This girl named Kayla is mean to both of them and Hannah wants to get her back. They go to Kayla's house late at night because Kayla and another girl are in her backyard sleeping in a tent having a sleepover. Hannah wants Erin to chop Kayla's hair off. Erin does it and get caught the next day. Erin doesn't mention that Hannah helped her. Hannah goes to California and Erin and Monica go to a camp. Erin hopes that no one will find out that Monica is her sister. Erin has a lot of fun and only sees Monica at the cafeteria sometimes. At the end of the camp, Erin and Monica's mom  has to have a surgery and they have to stay one more week. Monica will be in Erin's cabin because there is no more room in her age group. On Friday, they go to Mount Franklin to camp out. On the way up the mountain, a boy names Tommy hurts his ankle and can't go any further. The camp counselor, Erin, Monica and a kid named Leo helped carry Tommy down so they could go back to camp. When they get back from camp their mom is back to normal. Hannah takes Erin to Kayla's house and Hannah tells Kayla that it was her fault not Erin's. School starts and Erin isn't so mad about being in a school with Monica. Monica is really good at basketball and is on the school team. After the game, some boy comes to Erin and says that Monica isn't a dork and that she is talented.
