The Titan's Curse begins with Percy's mom driving his friends Talia and Annabeth to Westover Hall, a boarding school, in order to bring two demigods that Percy's friend Grover found. Though during the escape, they are stopped by a teacher who went by the name "Doctor Thorn" and was actually a manticore in disguise. During the fight, Artemis and her hunters arrive to clean up, though the battle is won, Annabeth falls into a ravine and lost. After the fight, they go into a tent. Artemis explains how she is troubled by something called "The Great Stirring" of monsters. During the talk, Artemis offers Bianca, one of the demigods rescued, immortality just as long as she join the Hunt. Bianca agrees and leaves Percy and Talia. After the talk, Artemis sets off to hunt a dangerous monster. After they arrive at Camp Half-Blood safely, both Percy and Zoe Nightshade, Artemis's lieutenant have strange dreams. Zoe dreams about Artemis being in trouble, while Percy dreams about Annabeth being in trouble. Later, Zoe demands to leave camp to look and rescue the goddess. After being refused, she goes to the Oracle for help.Later, the Oracle leaves the Big House attic to give the quest prophecy to Zoe. Zoe and three of the hunters (including Bianca,) depart next morning. Percy, not being apart of the quest and worried about Annabeth, follows them close behind.
